Thanksgiving Intensified through Grace
As God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. 2 Corinthians 4:15 (NLT)
As we meet and celebrate a day of Thanksgiving is it because we are really a thankful people? As we watch, listen and live in our world today it is easy to find reasons to complain. We live in a broken, divided, and for many extremely thankless country. For many this day of thanksgiving will more about complaining because family as hurt or wronged you, good health has been overcome by cancer, money is once again not sufficient, and so on and so forth it goes.
It really is not easy to give thanks, but it is the very thing that emerges as we become aware of God’s grace and see all that God has accomplished in our lives. It will only be through the lens of grace that we move into higher attitude of thanksgiving and God begins receiving more and more glory.
That is why giving thanks this Thanksgiving has great power to bring joy and break the power of the enemy. Whenever you give thanks to God, despite the most difficult circumstances, the enemy loses a big battle in your life, and you then can begin to build broken families.
When you give thanks in the midst of difficulty, you bring pleasure to God’s heart. He is looking for His children to live in a realm of praise and thanksgiving where the enemy no longer has an ability to hold or manipulate. Satan is defeated when we have a thankful heart because grace is released and there we become a sacrifice praise pleasing to God.
Are you thankful? Are you thankful for your present circumstances? Are you thankful for your salvation, your friendships, and your job? Thankfulness is a key to your life. It is the key that turns your situation around because it changes you, your outlook, and your attitude. There is power in a thankful heart.
Maybe that’s why Paul knew we could always be thankful not just one day a year. Allow God to use His Word to encourage and empower a thankful heart within you. Remember if God said it we can “trust Him” to do what He alone can do.
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18
And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:20
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:6
And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. Colossians 3:17
